Pirates prospect Luis Ortiz has made Team Dominica for the 2023 World Baseball Classic replacing Pirates reliever Jarlin Garcia. Ortiz made the jump from Bradenton in 2021 to Altoona for the start of 2022. (completely skipping High A Greensboro) In just one season he went from AA to the big leagues in a matter of a couple months! Ortiz impressed in his small sample size in the majors and looks to continue his impressive career development at this year’s World Baseball Classic!
