Game #4 of our coverage from Bradenton as the Atlanta Braves visited the Pittsburgh Pirates with a pitching matchup between Mitch Keller of the Pirates taking on Jared Shuster of Atlanta. Michael Harris II of the Braves decided to get the show started early with a solo shot off Keller to make it 1-0 early in this one. The Braves continued their strong start getting another run from Ryan Casteel. Going to the bottom of the 4th, the wheels of Shuster started to come off and Bryan Reynolds made him pay with a solo shot to center field, his second in as many days. Moving to the bottom of the 5th, Jack Suwinski of the Pirates wanted to get in on this home run derby with a beautifully hit ball scoring Connor Joe alongside him for the Pirates to take their first lead of the game 3-2. The floodgates opened in the top of the 6th as Atlanta put up 4 runs including a 2 run double from Ehire Adrianza, a single from Casteel, and a solo shot from catcher Joe Hudson to make it 7-3. We stayed scoreless till the top of the 9th where Atlanta continued to pile it on. Forrest wall brough one home on a single, Hoy Park brough home 2 more followed by Mitch Tolmans double to make it 11-3. The score would stay the same. We are back at it Tuesday as the Pirates host the Baltimore Orioles! Check out some highlights below.
Bright spots
Outfielders on a roll: Reynolds and Suwinski both hit solo shots today and it’s Reynolds second in a matter of days. Andrew McCutchen has slowly started to get some hits together too. If this can continue, this offense will run through the outfield.
Young pitchers impress: Colin Selby and Yerry DeLos Santos really put together some nice innings of work today showing why they should make the big league roster. With many injuries and some disappointments from some other bullpen arms, Selby and DeLos Santos have a very good shot at cracking the MLB in 2023.
