Sources have told me Shortstop and #23 ranked prospect by Pipeline Dariel Lopez is out for the entirety of the 2023 season after suffering a lower body injury. Lopez was slated to head to AA Altoona this year after the 21 year old slashed a .286 average with 58 RBIs and 19 home runs in High A Greensboro last year.

With Lopez now out of the lineup, the Pirates must rely on someone like Mike Jarvis who only had a minor taste of High A ball to take the reigns. Dariel’s impact on the team was more than just a bat as his defense and speed can change a game. We wish Dariel a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see him come back better than ever in 2024!
