Game 5 of 5 on this Bradenton trip came to a close this afternoon as the Baltimore Orioles played the Pittsburgh Pirates. Felix Bautista of the Orioles faced off against Rich Hill of the Pirates. Moving ahead to the second inning, the Orioles began to figure out Rich Hill, starting with a Josh Lester triple off the wall, who was then brought in by Daz Cameron. Cameron would then score on a Coby Mayo double off the glove of Jack Suwinski. Colton Cowser would follow that up with a single of his own to bring in a run. Terrin Vera, the next at bat brought home another one on a sacrifice fly. Adley Rutschman wanted to get in on the action with a double of his own to make it 5-0. The battling bucs got some life in the bottom of the 3rd, when Austin Hedges hit a double in the outfield gap and then was brought home on an Oneil Cruz single. Newcomer Ji Man Choi would hit a 2 run single to make it 5-3. Veteran Carlos Santana followed suit with a ground out run to make it 5-4. Moving ahead to the bottom of the 4th inning, Travis Swaggerty singled to bring home Tucipita Marcano to tie this ballgame at five. No teams could find answers to each other until the top of inning number 7, where Josh Lester hit his second triple of the game to put the Orioles up by 1. Daz Cameron would sacrifice fly him home to now extend the lead to two. The score would remain that way until the 9th inning of play. Hudson Head and Connor Scott each got out, so it came down to Nick Gonzales, who came through with a clutch single to center field. Endy Rodriguez worked the count and ripped one into left field to put men at the corners. Ryan Villade worked it to a 3-2 count and put one into left field to bring home Gonzales, and cut the Orioles lead to 1. It all came down to Carter Bins. Bins stayed composed, and was walked to load the bases for Jared Triolo. Triolo, with the count against him swung and rolled over to third baseman Cesar Prieto, who hurried the throw across to 1st base, who barely got it before Triolo hit the bag and the game was over. The battling buccos fall 7-6.
