Just like we did before the season, we will be breaking down the top Pittsburgh Pirates prospects once again. We will be expanding now from 30 players to 50. Today we will be looking at prospects 26-50. Because of the large amount of players we will be covering, the amount of information we can cover per player has to be limited.

#50: RHP Sean Sullivan

He’s off to an amazing start in AA Altoona with a 2.87 ERA and 41 strikeouts. He was a 8th round pick in 2021 and looks to continue to rise up this list.

#49: 1B Jacob Gonzalez

Gonzalez is hitting .244 with 4 homers, 18 RBI, and a .673 OPS with AA Altoona this season, and he has revived his career since coming over to the Pirates last season.

#48: RHP JC Flowers

Flowers pitched amazing last year in Altoona. But, he has struggled a bit so far in Indianapolis. The adjustment period can take awhile for some, but the hype still surrounds this flame throwing righty.

#47: LHP Tyler Samaneigo

Samaneigo has struggled a bit this year, but the potential on his value is there. Let’s hope his 2nd half of the season goes better for him than the 1st.

#46: RHP Aaron Shortridge

Shortridge, once a highly touted prospect in the organization, has been limited due to Tommy John surgery. Shortridge is finally getting back in the swing of things, and looks to continue to improve in AA Altoona.

#45: OF Connor Scott

Scott, a former top prospect with the Marlins, Scott has struggled to live up to the hype with the Pirates. Scott has hit under .250 in both of his seasons with the Pirates so far.

#44: OF Matt Frazier

Frazier’s amazing 2021 season seems so long ago. Since then, he’s been inconsistent and has struggled to get back to his old form. Frazer hit just .219 last year, and has not been much better this year, as he’s posted a .236 average.

#43: RHP Owen Kellington

I think forget about Kellington, as he didn’t make his affiliated debut till this year. He’s had his ups and downs, but his potential is sky high. He holds a 5.06 ERA and 45 strikeouts so far this season.

#42: OF Emmanuel Terrero

Terrero has been the surprise riser of the year, as he has been excellent in all aspects. He currently is hitting just shy of a .300 batting average with 25 RBIs. Safe to say he’ll be in Greensboro soon as his stock continues to rise. He does not appear to have video anywhere.

#41: SS Maikol Escotto

Escotto was once a top 30 prospect, but in my book he’s out of that range. He’s in his second stint with Greensboro, and is not even hitting .200. Hopefully his 2nd half of 2023 can turn him around.
