We continue on in this series with prospect rankings 31-40!

#40: RHP Tahnaj Thomas

A great closer last year for Altoona; has struggled this year. Just came off the development list so we shall see if he can turn it around. 

#39: C Abrahan Guiterrez

Hurt to start the year with High A Greensboro, dominated when he came back and earned a promotion to AA Altoona where he continues to impress. There is unfortunately no video I’ve seen online.

#38: RHP Cameron Junker

Junker has been a key contributor to the Curve bullpen with his 24 strikeouts and a 3.51 ERA. He could be moved up to AAA fairly soon. Junker also has limited video in the pro level.

#37: RHP J.P. Massey

Massey had an amazing start with Bradenton this year with 57 strikeouts and a 3.28 ERA. The 7th round pick of 2022 was just promoted to Greensboro. He was just announced as a selection to the Futures Game!

#36: OF Tres Gonzalez

A 5th round pick last year, Tres has looked amazing this season starting off in Bradenton. He earned an early promotion to Greensboro and has done great work there as well as he holds a .270 average. 

#35: SS Yordany De Los Santos

Why he isn’t in affiliated ball yet confuses me especially since Polanco has been there since April. Yordany has hit .325, and 6 RBIs already for the GCL Pirates in 40 at bats. Yes, he’s only 18 but he’s showing already he can handle the affiliated levels already. Limited video is available of De Los Santos.

#34: SS Alika Williams

Fresh off a trade from the Tampa Bay Rays, Williams is looking for a fresh start with the Pirates. He was a first round pick so we know there is some potential here. 

#33: RHP Cody Bolton

He finally made his MLB debut and did decently in his couple of games. He’s looked great in AAA with a 2.77 ERA and 26 strikeouts. 

#32: RHP Po-Yu Chen

A great 2022 season in Bradenton, has done average with Greensboro this year, 59 strikeouts and a 4.71 ERA. Chen continues to show he’s a top pitching prospect. 

#31: OF Shalin Polanco

I had my doubts about him but boy can he play. He was recently named FSL hitter of the week and is starting to adjust to affiliated ball nicely. He has a strong arm and beautiful patience at the plate. He’s legit. 11 home runs and 37 RBIs already for him this season.
