For Pittsburgh Pirates Infielder Jackson Glenn, the dream of playing baseball ended up being so much more than just a dream.
Jackson Glenn was born in Arlington, TX on October 24, 1997 to a baseball family. Even though he excelled at the high school level, Glenn elected the JUCO route at Grayson College for 2 years before eventually going to his dream school; Dallas Baptist University. With the pandemic hitting in 2020, Glenn got the chance to enhance his draft position and return to school where he made the most of his opportunity. Scout John Lombardo of the Pittsburgh Pirates was heavily interested in Glenn and all his work paid off as the Pirates called his name in the 5th round of the 2021 draft. Glenn didn’t pay attention to the stream of the draft that day, focusing his attention to the Pixar movie Finding Nemo to calm the nerves before celebrating with his family and friends.
Glenn agreed to his standard contract and was sent to Bradenton, Florida to immediately get him to game action in the Florida Complex League. He quickly worked up to Low A Bradenton to end the 2021 season and spent the entirety of the 2022 season in High A Greensboro. He returned to Greensboro in 2023 and played some of the best ball of his career and earned himself a mid-season promotion to Double A Altoona where he completed the 2023 season.
Off the field, Glenn is a man of faith and thanks Jesus for everything he has been giving and takes nothing for granted. He remembers a story when he was younger where former MLB player Ben Zobrist was giving away baseball cards with his testimony on the back of the card. Little did he know that would change his life and legacy forever. When his wife Brystol and him were discussing ways to enhance fan experience and to share his faith, he remembered the Zobrist story. He reached out to Mr. Zobrist, and soon the Jackson Glenn baseball card saga began. He now gives them out to fans post game in which he signs his autograph on the front and includes his testimony on the back of the card. Fans flock to get these cards after the game and Glenn has made many memorable experiences with them in which he cannot wait to continue throughout his career.
For Jackson Glenn, he is now married and is a soon to be father of a baby girl in a couple months time. The goal is always to make the big league for Jackson, but the legacy he has left thus far has impacted the lives of fans across the United States.
